COMMUNITY POETRY
Students across all grade levels participated in a schoolwide poetry project exploring identity and belonging. Inspired by George Ella Lyon's "Where I'm From" poem, our K-12 students reflected on the people, places, traditions, experiences, values, and dreams that shape who they are and where they come from.
Each student created an individual poem, and those poems were woven together into cumulative class poems that captured the voice of every student. The project culminated in a K–12 community poem featuring the voices of all grade levels, creating a collective portrait of our school community.
The resulting collection celebrates the diverse experiences, perspectives, and aspirations that make Hoboken Charter School such a special place while highlighting the common threads that connect us. Together, these poems tell a story of identity, belonging, and community through the words of our students.
We invite you to explore the collection by visiting the site found here.
We hope you enjoy reading these powerful reflections and gaining a deeper appreciation for the many voices and stories that contribute to who we are as a community at HCS.
