Hoboken Charter School’s 2026-2027 Annual Fund
Hoboken Charter School’s (HCS) Annual Fund along with our Annual Gala & Auction, is an important annual efforts to raise essential dollars to support the success of HCS, its students and faculty. Our Annual Fund’s End-of-Year Appeal, which kicks-off on #GivingTuesday in December, aims to raise awareness about our school’s need to fundraise in order to address the deep funding gap we experience as a public charter school in New Jersey.
Our goal for the Annual Fund is to have 100% K-12 school participation - every family makes a contribution no matter the size that is meaningful to them - as every single dollar makes a difference.

The Reality:
A Massive $2.5 Million Funding Gap
HCS is a free, public non-profit school open to all. While our charter status gives us the flexibility to innovate, it comes with a steep financial penalty.
The 30% Disadvantage

Less Per Pupil: HCS receives 30% less funding per student than traditional local public schools.

The Shortfall: We receive $8,150 less per student, creating a $2.5 million annual deficit for our school.
Zero State Facilities Aid

Excluded from Aid: HCS receives $0 from New Jersey for facilities, transportation, or debt service.

A Stark Inequity: Since 2001, NJ has given $19 billion to traditional districts for construction. Public charter schools received just 0.23% of that funding.
Every HCS student deserves 100% of the resources needed to reach their full potential.

Double or Triple Your Donation! Your Employer’s Matching Gift Program
Many companies offer their employees a matching gift program, enabling you to double or even triple your donation to Hoboken Charter School. Please follow the below steps to determine if your company has a program, and if yes, to complete the process.
