Hoboken Charter School’s Robotics Team, led by middle school mathematics teacher Christopher Kunkel, participated in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics Competition at Clifton High School on Saturday, November 21, 2015. FLL is a national competition with students competing from across the country, focusing on the areas of science and technology. Comprised of ten students in grades six, seven and eight, this was the first year for Hoboken Charter School’s Robotics Team. The group worked extremely hard to build and program a robot and complete a research project around this year’s theme, Trash Trek. The team placed in the top tier out of all schools competing in this event, earning their spot to advance to the FLL State Competition. Additionally, the team won the Rookie Inspiration Award.
