Dear Hoboken Charter School Families and Staff:

I hope this letter finds you well during these trying times in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  As you are all too aware, the storm brought devastation and disruption to countless residents in not only Hoboken, but throughout New Jersey, New York and other coastal communities.  Its impact will be felt for years to come.

While we’re all acutely aware of Hoboken Charter School’s fundraising needs, more so this year than ever before, we also recognize the unique challenges that face the community at large in the wake of the storm.  Both residents and business owners are dealing with extensive clean-up efforts, insurance claims and various levels of repairs, while the City works to continue to restore essential services.  After careful consideration and deliberations, we believe the priority right now should be on the needs of the broader community, and have decided to postpone the November 19th Rebuild Hoboken Charter School Benefit and Auction until Monday, January 28th at the W Hoboken. We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause, but feel it is the appropriate action to take under the circumstances and are confident that it won’t jeopardize the success of the event or its impact on Hoboken Charter School’s needs.

We are so appreciative of all the time, energy and hard work that went into planning and organizing the event, as well as the incredible generosity exhibited by the sponsors and numerous businesses and individuals who donated hundreds of exciting items to be auctioned.  Their efforts and benevolence will be on full display during the January 28th event which will help us achieve our goal of rebuilding 713 Washington Street and returning the K-8th program to its permanent home in Hoboken.

We are also grateful for the nearly 300 people who purchased tickets to attend the benefit.  We certainly hope to see you all on January 28th.  For information regarding tickets, please contact Jane McConnell at [email protected].

As always, we thank you for your support and understanding as we all deal with these unique and unforeseen challenges.  We will forward additional and exciting information about the Rebuild Hoboken Charter School Benefit & Auction in the new year, closer to the rescheduled date of January 28, 2013.

Sincerely,

Elissa Brachfeld
